Welcome to my site. Hi, my name is Marty Epping. I am married and Grandmother to 5 wonderful kids ( Josh 20, Dakota 12, Conner 10, Anthony 8, and Kaylee 5. Wood burning and Carving come in 2nd after the grand kids. As of 2007 I took early retirement and am pursuing one of my greatest loves, wood carving and wood burning.
Having been a woodcarver for 25 years I have found it to be an addictive and absorbing hobby. I joined the Kansas City Woodcarver’s Club in 1985. In 1994 they twisted my arm an I became Membership Chairperson for the club. I have also been Co-chairperson for the Annual Artistry in Wood Show that the Club sponsors. I am also a member of the National Wood Carvers’ Association. I would encourage all woodcarvers to join a club and the N.W.C.A. You can learn so much from other carvers. They are always willing to give free advice.
The Kansas City Woodcarver’s Club, Inc meets the last Tuesday of each month at the Faith Lutheran Church, 4805 W 67 th ( Roe & 67 th) Prairie Village, KS. south entrance with a regular business meeting 7:00 pm and program [no carving]

These carving sessions are open to any and all carvers ( members and non-members ). They are a great way to get started. Just come and sit in on a session let us know you are new to carving. All of the carvers welcome newby’s and are glad to let you know where to get tools, knives, patterns, wood, and more to get you started.
I have tried many forms of carving, Chip, Relief, Spoon, and In-the-Round. I love it all. Like most carvers I like to experiment with all types of carving. Experimenting lets you find out where your likes and dislikes are and what you have a feel for. In carving like other forms of art you have to see in your head where you are going and what you want the out come to be. To see some of my carvings and woodburnings click on the links to the left.
I live in Riverside, a suburb just north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It is a beautiful part of town.
I want to extend a special “Thanks” to my husband Dan, with out his support, encouragement, and special help I would not be where I am today. Thank you Dan.
